What happens when your license is suspended but you need it for your job?

My husband and I where in a car accident. It was our fault. We thought that we had insurance but it turns out that it was canceled. Because we got into an accident with out insurance my husband will have his license taken away. He needs to have his license so that his work can insure him. Is there anything he can do to keep his job?

    Well, the judge can issue you an order allowing you to drive to and from work only, in some cases. In other cases, not having a license is something you will have to deal with. Slardi

    Go to court, explain your situation, and most likely they will grant him a “Restricted License” with clauses like getting to and from work and driving for his job. You will need to get insurance for when he drives to and from work and don’t get caught driving anywhere else once he gets it. jo2154jim

    As others have said, it’s possible to petition the court to get a restricted license to allow you to drive to and from work only. If they happen to say no, or not allow it until damages are paid, looks like he looks for a different job.

    He will eventually have a hearing, and can speak to the judge then, but the judge is not going to be too sympathetic to the claim that you “thought” you had insurance, but some how it got canceled. They don’t cancel without notice to you and you are usually given up to 30 days to correct what ever problem there is before they cancel.
