I’m a new real estate licensee, and I need to know how to find a broker with whom to work. How should I start
ABQian asked:
Do I just show up at an agency and introduce myself as a new licensee? What sorts of questions should I ask?

Send all the brokers in your area a cover letter and resume.
Where do u live? i know a broker that is looking in the DC,and MD area
I’m fairly new to the real estate game also. I would suggest that you shop around the different agencies. I personally selected Coldwell Banker. They are an excellent company to work for. Try a few before you settle. Try the nationwide companies, such as ReMax, Weichert, Prudential, etc. But, don’t forget the more independent brokers, they may be a better fit. Some questions to ask would include whether or not you have to rent a desk? Yes, believe it or not. ReMax, at least in NJ, makes you pay rent to have a desk – which is not usually good for a newbie as you don’t have the clientele or the income. I have heard horror stories about Weichert and how much money they actually take out of your commission. Personally, I wouldn’t go near them with a 10-foot-pole. Good luck.
