In Alabama if you're not near a large town, The DMV people set up at the county court house three days a week. Be sure and take some ID with you. Your birth Certificate, or Social Security card will be enough. Pay a replacement fee, and leave with a temporary license with the replacement to be mailed to you in several weeks. Tell them that your license may have been stolen and let them deal with it. There are ways to protect yourself from someone using your identity to open accounts etc. If you use a credit card call the card company immediately and let them know. They'll contact the three major Credit Bureaus for you and put a red flag on your name to stop any new accounts from being approved.
